Sounds Deep
Definition (by Business Dictionary):
"Meticulous adherence to undeviating courtesy, honesty, and responsibility in one's dealings with customers and associates, plus a level of excellence that goes over and above the commercial considerations and legal requirements."
An impossible goal to attain in this country. It is the complete anathema of Jamaican culture.
- Courtesy? A thing of the past.
- Honesty?.... u must be kidding..
- Responsibility? Jamaica is Excuseville
- Level of Excellence? Whatever for?
- Commercial Consderations? Over and above? Who? A Yardy?
- Legal Requirements? In a corrupt society such as this? (see Honesty above)
It dawned on me why I was having such a hard time operating here. i've been trying very hard but keep brick walling when it comes to a dealing with the common mentality of this country. This lack of professionalism is evident in practically every aspect of Jamaican culture. i just read in the paper about how Jamaicans do excel abroad with a professional attitude and given the opportunity, the same people will not exhibit that ambition, drive and attention to detail here.
It has left me totally exhausted. I have never before experienced such a total lack of responsibility. Yet now that I can understand what the problem is , I now might be able to circumvent it somehow without compromising my level of professionalism and self respect.

- level of scarcity (money, education, basic necessities) experienced in Jamaica is a primary reason for the level of nonprofessional work ethic coupled with the ego we carry
- level of scarcity (money, education, basic necessities) experienced in Jamaica is a primary reason for the level of nonprofessional work ethic coupled with the ego we carry
- the introduction of "mainstream" media encouraging selfishness and a crave of being a star
and last but not least
- so it set
These are all excuses. hence my point of it being impossible. as long as ppl are willing to embrace any excuse not to do better it is a lost cause. Unacceptable.

I think the level of scarcity (money, education, basic necessities) experienced in Jamaica is a primary reason for the level of nonprofessional work ethic coupled with the ego we carry just sends all that jazz you mentioned straight to hell. Not to mention that the scarcity is a result of being duped by the supposed leaders of our beautiful island. Not to mention the introduction of "mainstream" media encouraging selfishness and a crave of being a star so now everybody's way is the right way without compromise. so it set
