5 day-20 Hr. Basic Engineering Workshop Seminar being offered by DKMP. This course will be instructed by 25 year record industry veteran, multi platinum awarded engineer/producer David Kennedy. To be held at the Cedarhilldigital Recording Suite in the Red Hills area of St. Andrew, Jamaica

Course Overview

Day One- Sound and the Theory of Acoustics –

• A detailed explanation of Sound and its Physical properties.

• Acoustics - The effect of Sound and its response to different environments

• Psycho-Acoustics – How the mind interprets Sound.

Day Two - Microphones Consoles and Tape Machines – Theoretical Hardware Implementation within the Audio Chain

• Detailed explanation of Microphones Recording Consoles and Tape Machines.

• Covering the Types, Characteristics and various applications.

• Dynamic Processing

Day Three - DAW’s (Digital Audio Workstations) and MIDI Sequencers

• Introduction to Digital Logic

• Brief explanation of Digital Audio and MIDI – the Pros and Cons of the Advances in technology in Music Production.

Day Four - Recording Session

• Practical I.. Student participates in actual recording session. Involving the set up of the studio and the recording of a Live Band.

Day Five - Mixing Session

• Practical II. Student participates in actual Mix session. Involving the set up of studio and mix of previously recorded music.
